Neighborhood Commission 6C Grant Information
Application
Instructions
1. Print and complete
the ANC 6C grant application form. Submit it 2 weeks before the second
Wednesday of the month.
2. Attach a detailed proposal,
budget, and performance review plan to the grant application form.
3. Mail one copy of
the complete application (grant application form and proposal, budget, and
performance review plan) to:

4. Send an electronic
copy of the form to Bill Crews at 6C07@anc.dc.gov
5. When your grant
application is scheduled to be heard at an ANC 6C meeting (the second Wednesday
of the month) bring 10 copies of the application to the meeting.

Timeline
- Applicant submits form
- Grants Committee evaluates
proposals and makes recommendations to full ANC 6C commission.
- ANC 6C regular commission
meeting. Commission will vote on recommendations from the Grants Committee.
Applicants must be present and present their application.
- Applicants will be sent
notification whether their proposal was approved or denied. Successful
applicants will discuss disbursement of funds with ANC 6C Treasurer Lena
Brown
- Projects must be completed during
this time period. (60 Days) (if the nature of a project requires
additional time, be sure to note this in the proposal – e.g., a
neighborhood flower garden that will be maintained with grant money for 6
months)
- Representatives of approved
projects must submit a performance review INCLUDING RECEIPTS for
expenditures to update the Grants Committee on the success of the project
- Grants Committee meets to
evaluate success of projects

Grant Information
- All grants must be used to
directly benefit the ANC 6C community.
- Grants are made only to qualified
non-profit organizations -- proof of 501c3 status required
- The Grants Committee will look
favorably upon requests of $500 or less.
- Grants will be disbursed at the
discretion of the Commission. For large disbursements, the Grants
Committee may require checks from the ANC to be written directly to the
entity providing goods or services (e.g., a check may be written directly
to a sporting goods store if the grant is for equipment benefiting a
neighborhood basketball program)
Examples of
Permissible and Prohibited Projects
- Permissible: Project of a
parent-teacher association to fund a computer literacy program, musical
instruction programs,or cultural field trip
- Permissible: Neighborhood
association project to plant flowers or improve public spaces
- Prohibited: Projects of a
non-public nature or where services are provided for personal gain
- Prohibited: Grants to a D.C.
government agency or program funded by the D.C. government
- Prohibited: Projects that propose
to use the grants for food, entertainment, support for festivals,
transportation, and overnight accommodations
- Prohibited: Projects that provide
existing services already provided by the government or other agencies in
the community
